JOB ANNOUNCEMENT DATE:  September 9, 2019

Position Summary: This position is responsible for assisting customers and providing administrative duties in the Assessor's Office.

Major Duties: Represents the majority of the time spent working in class.  Management may assign additional tasks, as necessary.

  • Records property transfers: receives and stamps deeds; maintains log of deeds processed; submits property splits to Mapping Technician; mails necessary forms; compiles sales report for public viewing.

  • Enters data to computer; verifies accuracy of property and parcel information.

  • Prepares and sends courtesy tax bills to new property owners.

  • Calculates and compiles actual rollback tax information for auditing purposes.

  • Assists the public in person and by telephone, including providing information regarding parcel numbers, addresses, size, property and building locations, appraised values, manufactured homes, legal residence, and agricultural use.

  • Collects monies and issues receipts.

  • Processes mailing address changes for property owners as requested.

  • Assists the public with using the GIS computer and obtaining maps.

  • Issues mobile home permits and moving permits; collects fees and taxes; issues receipts.

  • Reconciles cash drawer on a daily basis.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge Required:

 

  • Knowledge of department policies and procedures.

  • Knowledge of various real estate forms and documents, including deeds, plats, and sales contracts.

  • Knowledge of GIS computer and mapping systems.

  • Skill in reading and interpreting maps and deed information.

  • Skill in performing basic mathematical calculations.

  • Skill in operating a computer, GIS computer, plotter, mapping machine, and standard office equipment. 

  • Skill in dealing with the public.

  • Skill in oral and written communication.
